"In rural Iowa, a Muslim chef and his Catholic wife fuse their cultures in the kitchen and beyond, serving dishes that blend Middle Eastern tradition with Midwestern bounty. But their greatest recipe is for belonging, as they build a community where everyone has a seat at the table."

The Journalism and Mass Communications Department at Washington and Lee University invites students, faculty, staff, and members of the public to the W&L premiere of KAMAL’S, a feature-length food documentary directed by DeLaney Filmmaker-In-Residence Nich Perez in collaboration with W&L student filmmakers.

The screening will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at the Stackhouse Theater. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for refreshments, and the film begins at 6:15 p.m. A Q&A with the filmmakers, Chef Kamal, and Laura will follow the screening and will be moderated by Assistant Professor of Religion, Kameliya Atanasova. Refreshments will be served after the discussion. The event is free and open to all.
